THE BUILDING
The Theatre House Residents was an industrial and business district of the city centre during the first Republic of Estonia. The original building was destroyed during the march bombing of World War II, but part of the first-floor masonry still remains. The building was rebuilt in 1952 and housed the government of Tallinn Oblast and then the Library of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. The main façade, the vestibule, the main staircase and the hall with its interior decoration have been declared a cultural monument and restored to their original state.
